Run a promotion

GuideUpdated October 16, 2026

In short

A promotion takes a percentage or a fixed amount off one service, one package or all of them, for the days you choose. You decide whether the dates count the day of booking, the day of the appointment, or both. Each appointment keeps the price it was booked at.

A promotion is a discount with dates on it. Clients see it on your booking page, and appointments it applies to are saved at the lower price. Owners and receptionists manage promotions.

Creating one

Open Promotions from the Services page and press Add promotion.

Name

For you, like "Summer Sale".

Discount type
PercentageFixed amount

A percentage from 1 to 99, or an amount taken off in your shop's currency. A fixed amount never takes a price below zero.

Applies to

All services, which also covers your packages, or one service or package you pick. A service or package with variants is discounted on every variant.

Applies in
All appointmentsOnline bookings only

Choose online only if the discount is a reason to book on your page rather than by phone.

When the dates apply

See Which dates count below.

Start date, End date

Your shop's days, and the end date is included. A one-day promotion has the same start and end date.

Only one promotion can cover a service or package at a time. An All services promotion blocks any other in the same dates, and you will see "Another promotion overlaps with this date range" if you try.

Which dates count

Take "20% off, August". The same dates can mean three different things.

  • DefaultBooked in this periodThe day the booking is made counts. Good for bringing bookings in now.
  • Appointment in this periodThe day of the appointment counts. Good for filling a quiet month.
  • Booked and appointment in this periodBoth days have to fall in the period.

With 20% off in August:

  • Booked on 10 August for 5 September: the discount applies only with Booked in this period.
  • Booked on 25 July for 12 August: only with Appointment in this period.
  • Booked on 10 August for 14 August: with all three.

What clients see

Your booking page shows the discount the client will actually get:

  • When it applies to every date a client can book right now, the original price is struck through beside the discounted one.
  • When it applies to some dates only, typically Appointment in this period, the price stays as it is and a short tag shows the discount and its days, like -20% · 1–31 Aug. Once the client picks a time, the total shows the exact price for that date.

Good to know:

  • The price saved on the appointment matches the one the page showed for the chosen time.
  • Promotions apply to everyone who books: there are no discounts for individual clients.
  • The discount also applies to appointments you create in Scisso, unless the promotion is for online bookings only.

A booked price stays booked

The price is worked out once, when the appointment is made, and saved on it. After that:

You change or delete the promotion
Existing appointments keep their price
Only new bookings see the change.
The appointment is moved
Price unchanged
Even if the new date is outside the promotion's dates.
The service is changed
Priced again
The new service is priced as of that moment, with any promotion that applies then.

To pause a promotion without deleting it, use Deactivate, and Activate to bring it back. Each promotion shows as Active, Upcoming, Expired or Inactive in the list.
