Take deposits and payments online
In short
Connect your own Stripe account, then choose per service whether clients pay nothing, a deposit or the full price when they book online. The money goes straight to your Stripe account and Scisso takes no commission.
Online payments run through your own Stripe account. You are the seller: clients pay you, payouts land in your bank, and invoices and receipts are issued from your Stripe account. Scisso takes no commission on any payment. Stripe charges its own processing fee.
Connecting Stripe
The owner opens Settings, Online Payments and chooses Connect with Stripe. Stripe asks for your business and bank details, then sends you back. If Stripe needs more, Complete setup on Stripe takes you back there.
The payment switches in Online Payments appear only once payments, payouts and tax collection are all active on your Stripe account. Tax collection is set up in your Stripe Dashboard, not in Scisso.
Choosing how each service is paid
Open a service or a package and look under Booking & Payment. Until Stripe is connected, it only reminds you to connect it first.
- DefaultNo paymentThe client books without paying, as before. You take payment at the shop.
- Customer's choiceThe client picks. Book now and pay at the shop, or pay the full price online.
- DepositPart of the price is charged when the client books. The rest is paid at the shop.
- Full prepaymentThe whole price is charged when the client books.
A deposit is either a Fixed amount or a Percentage of the price. A fixed amount larger than the price is charged as the price, never more.
With Allow customers to pay in full switched on, a client booking a service with a deposit can choose to pay everything up front instead.
While a client pays, their time is kept for 10 minutes. If they do not finish, the time frees up again.
Cancellations and refunds
When you or your team cancel a paid appointment, reject a booking request, or delete the event from Google Calendar, the client gets a full refund automatically.
When the client cancels, your Cancellation and refund policy decides, and clients see it before they pay:
- Full refund window
- 0 to 168 hours
- Cancel at least this long before the appointment and the client gets everything back.
- Late cancellation fee
- 0 to 100%
- What you keep when the client cancels later than that. 100% means no refund.
- Auto-refund within window
- On or off
- Off means you get a notification for each one and refund by hand. The client is told you will decide.
Whether clients may cancel or move a booking themselves is a separate setting, see clients rescheduling and cancelling.
Refunding by hand
An owner or receptionist can open a paid appointment and choose Refund. It returns the full amount to the client's card, and Stripe emails them a confirmation. It cannot be undone, and it is available until 30 days after the appointment, for single appointments rather than multi-service visits.
No-shows
Marking a no-show never moves money: a deposit or prepayment stays paid. If you want to give it back, use Refund. Switching off Refund on no-show tells clients before they pay that no-shows are not refunded.
Pausing and disconnecting
Turn off Accept online payments to stop taking payments for a while. New bookings no longer ask for payment, your settings per service are kept, and appointments already paid are not affected.
