The phone app and notifications

GuideUpdated September 28, 2026

In short

Scisso has an app for iPhone and Android, or you can add the web app to your home screen. Turn on push notifications in your profile to hear the moment a booking arrives.

The app on the App Store and Google Play is Scisso itself, the same console you use in the browser. Sign in with the same email and password and everything is where you left it. If you prefer not to install anything, open Scisso in your phone's browser and add it to your home screen: it opens full screen, like an app.

Turning on notifications

Push notifications are off until you switch them on. Open your profile, find Communication Preferences and turn on Push notifications. Your phone or browser then asks for permission: say yes, or the switch stays off.

On

In your profile, a green dot next to Push notifications means the device you are using will receive them. A red dot means the switch is on but that device has blocked them: allow notifications for Scisso in the phone's or browser's settings.

Who turns it on

Nobody can switch it on for a colleague.

There is one switch, not one per type.

If your profile has no push switch at all, the browser you are using cannot receive notifications. Use the app, or another browser.

What sends you a push

  1. A client books onlineNew bookingTo the person they booked with
  2. A request is about to lapseBooking expiring soonTo that person, plus owners and receptionists
  3. It lapses unansweredRequest expiredThe earlier warning is cleared
  4. A client asks to change a bookingChange requestTo the person the booking is with

Pushes also come for your waitlist (someone joins, or a slot opens for them), and for a text that could not be sent to one of your clients. Owners and receptionists also hear when texts stop going out for the whole shop. Owners get important notices about the shop's account too.

The inbox

Everything that sends a push also lands in the Inbox, even with push switched off. On a phone it sits in the top bar, on a computer in the sidebar. At the top are tasks: online requests waiting for your answer, incomplete appointments and the waitlist. Below them are your unread notifications. Tap one to open it, or use Mark all read.

The number on the app icon

In the iPhone and Android app, the icon shows how many things need an answer from you now: online requests and change requests waiting, plus unread notifications. Incomplete appointments and the waitlist are left out, because they need sorting rather than an answer. Employees count their own requests, owners and receptionists the whole shop's. The number clears when you open the app.

Signing out and more than one shop

Signing out from your profile stops notifications on that device, for every shop you belong to.

If you work in more than one shop, one device receives pushes from all of them, even while another shop is open on screen. The switch is kept per shop, so turn it on in each shop you want to hear from.
