Book by typing a title

GuideUpdated October 17, 2026

In short

You can add an appointment by typing a title the way you would in Google Calendar, like "Haircut Ana Pop". Scisso reads it with your calendar rules and shows you what it will become before you save.

If you are used to booking straight into Google Calendar, you do not have to change habits. Type a title, pick the time, tap Add to calendar. Scisso reads the title with the same calendar rules it uses for events you type in Google Calendar, so "Haircut Ana Pop" becomes a haircut for Ana Pop.

Turning it on

This is a personal choice, not a shop setting. Open your profile, go to App, and set How you add appointments to Type a title.

Where to find it

How you add appointments

Which form opens when you tap + or an empty slot to add an appointment.

Step by step

The option only shows up once two things are true: your Google Calendar is connected, and you have at least one calendar rule (a colour or a word linked to a service). Without them there is nothing to read the title with. If you disconnect your calendar later, + simply opens step by step instead.

From then on, the + in the bottom bar, tapping an empty slot, or tapping a free gap on your dashboard all open the typed form. The menu in the corner, the icon with a small arrow, switches to Pick from lists, Step by step or any other way of adding, and the same menu in those brings you back. The date and time you started from come with you. Anything you typed or changed does not.

What you see before you save

As you type, a line under the title tells you how Scisso reads it:

  • Haircut for Ana PopA service and a client were both recognised. This is the one you want.
  • No client found for Ana PopThe service is clear, but none of your clients has that name (or your colleague's, when you book for them). Check the spelling or add them as a client first.
  • More than one client matchesTwo clients share the name. Add a surname.
  • No service matchedThe appointment is saved but will need finishing later.
  • Time blocked outA rule marks this as personal time. No client and no messages.

A client is only recognised when the owner has switched on Auto-match inferred customers in the calendar settings. Picking a colour counts too: a colour linked to a service tells Scisso what the appointment is, and if the colour and the words disagree, the line says which one wins. A title that names two services, like "Haircut and colour Ana", is booked as one visit.

What happens when you tap Add to calendar

  1. Right awayThe event goes to Google CalendarWith your title, time and colour
  2. A moment laterA placeholder in ScissoShown with your title, marked incomplete
  3. When Google answersIt becomes a real appointmentService, price and client filled in by your rules

Scisso writes the event to your Google Calendar first, then reads it back exactly like an event you typed there yourself. Until that happens you see a placeholder with your title on it. Usually it only lasts a moment. From there, messages to the client follow the usual rules for a booking made in Google Calendar: nothing goes out until a client with a phone or email is linked.

When to use the normal form instead

Typing is quickest when your titles already follow your rules. Use Pick from lists when you need to:

  • book for a colleague whose calendar is not connected
  • choose a client or service that your rules would not recognise
  • set up a recurring appointment
  • add a waitlist entry

Owners and receptionists can also book for a colleague in the typed form, as long as that colleague's calendar is connected. Employees book for themselves.
