Client data, deletion and opting out
In short
Owners and receptionists can export a client's data or erase it for good, keeping only anonymous appointment records. Clients can stop your texts or emails from the link in any message, and each channel is stopped separately.
Exporting a client's data
When a client asks what you hold about them, open their page and choose Export data in the GDPR card. You get a file with their details, appointments and message history. Export works in the browser, not in the phone app.
Erasing a client
Erase personal data, in the same card, removes everything that identifies the client, for good. The appointment records stay, without a name, so your numbers still add up.

Owners and receptionists can erase and export. Every export and erasure is recorded, without any personal details in the record itself.
Stopping messages
Clients decide what reaches them, and each channel is separate: stopping texts leaves emails running, and the other way round.
- From a text
- The preferences link
- The first text a client gets carries it. The link in a booking message leads there too.
- From an email
- Message preferences, or Unsubscribe
- At the bottom of every email, or their mail app's own button.
- From you
- The SMS switch on their page
- Anyone can turn it off and must give a reason. Owners and receptionists can turn it back on.
- By replying STOP
- Texts from your own phone
- A reply that is just STOP, or the same word in their language, stops your texts and your offers. START brings the texts back. Replies to texts sent through SMS Direct are not read, so there the link in their texts is the way.
- Always sent
- Security codes
- A code someone asked for is never blocked.
A client who stopped texts can turn them back on from the same page, after confirming who they are. Stopping one shop's messages never affects another shop on Scisso.
How long you keep client data
In your shop details, Customer data retention sets how long a client can go without a visit before they count as inactive.
Values shown for an example shop.
Clients with no visit and no booking for this long are listed for you to review in Customers, and you get a monthly reminder. Nothing is deleted automatically.
